Letter 268

One whom Hashem has graced — to understand and to introduce some matter of righteousness — it is right and proper that he reveal and bring this understanding into the treasured people — and to do good from his goodness to others. The Tzadik has the power to take the person out even from transgressions — so that even one who has been trapped in what he has been trapped in — Heaven have mercy — however things may be — will merit to go out from his evil deeds. Through the greatness of the power of the Tzadik (and his holy Torah) and his holy words.

When one truly studies in the books of the true Tzadik — one must set his heart and his eyes well — to understand the wonders of their pure and wondrous light — and the immensity of the depth and the sweetness hidden and concealed within them. For this is the essential thing — to merit to feel the sweetness and the pleasantness. And then one can see new things and wonders within them. And one is also saved from being a widower. And this one merits through the repair of honor — not to receive any honor for oneself. Only let all the honor ascend to Hashem Yisburach. Also to be careful not to speak about any person of Israel. Rather on the contrary — let him strive with all his strength to find merit and good in every person of Israel. And even if it seems — Heaven forbid — that he is an utter wicked one — let him strive to find within him good points where he is not wicked. Until each and every person of Israel appears beautiful and pleasant in his eyes.

Through feeling the sweetness of the words of the Tzadik — one is saved from being a widower.
