תּוֹרָה רסח א. כְּשֶׁאֵין הָאָדָם מִסְתַּכֵּל עַל הַתַּכְלִית לָמָּה לוֹ חַיִּים: ב. הַנֶּפֶשׁ מִתְגַּעְגַּעַת תָּמִיד לַעֲשׂוֹת רְצוֹן יוֹצְרָהּ, וּכְשֶׁרוֹאָה שֶׁאֵין הָאָדָם עוֹשֶׂה רְצוֹנוֹ יִתְבָּרַךְ מַתְחֶלֶת לְהַמְשִׁיךְ עַצְמָהּ לְהִסְתַּלֵּק מִגּוּף הָאָדָם, וּמִזֶּה נֶחֱלֶה הָאָדָם, וּמַה שֶּׁהָאָדָם חוֹזֵר לִבְרִיאוּתוֹ עַל־יְדֵי רְפוּאוֹת, הוּא מֵחֲמַת שֶׁהַנֶּפֶשׁ רוֹאָה שֶׁהָאָדָם יָכוֹל לָכֹף תַּאֲוָתוֹ וּלְקַבֵּל רְפוּאוֹת מָרִים בִּשְׁבִיל אֵיזֶה תַּכְלִית, עַל־כֵּן הִיא חוֹזֶרֶת אֵלָיו כִּי הִיא מְצַפָּה שֶׁיָּכֹף גַּם כֵּן תַּאֲוָתוֹ בִּשְׁבִיל הַתַּכְלִית הָאֲמִתִּי לַעֲשׂוֹת רְצוֹן יוֹצְרוֹ יִתְבָּרַךְ:
When a person does not look at the purpose — why he has life. The soul always longs to do the will of its Creator. And when it sees that the person is not doing His will, may He be blessed — it begins to draw itself to depart from the person's body. And from this the person becomes ill. And what happens that the person returns to health through medicines — is because the soul sees that the person can subdue his desire and receive bitter medicines for some purpose. Therefore it returns to him — for it hopes that he will also subdue his desire for the true purpose — to do the will of his Creator, may He be blessed.
