Through the joy of Shabbos one merits freedom. And then the mind is in completeness and is not confused. And through this one will merit fear with knowledge [da'as] — without foolishness. And one elevates all the fallen fears — so that one will not fear any thing at all — not some minister or lord and the like — only Hashem Yisborach alone. And one must guard oneself greatly to be only joyful and glad of heart on Shabbos. For the greatness and holiness of Shabbos is very great and precious — as is explained in all the books — and especially in the book "Rayshis Chochmah", Gate of Holiness, at its beginning. And it is fitting to learn there and to place one's heart well upon all the matters stated there — concerning the greatness of the holy Shabbos holiness — so that one's heart will blaze to receive Shabbos with great and mighty joy. For the primary commandment of the honour of the holy Shabbos is joy — to be very happy on the holy Shabbos. And not to show — G-d forbid — any sadness or worry at all on Shabbos. And to increase in Shabbos delights with all types of delight — both eating and drinking and garments — as one is able. For Shabbos eating is entirely holy — entirely spiritual — entirely divinity — and goes to an entirely different place than weekday eating. Fortunate is one who strives to rejoice on Shabbos. For the primary honour of Shabbos is joy as above. It is the way of Hashem Yisborach to look at the good things one does. And even if there is also found in them something that is not good — He does not look at this. All the more so — a person is forbidden to look at one's fellow for the bad — to find specifically what is not good in one and to search and find blemishes in one's fellow's service. Rather on the contrary — one is obligated to look only at the good.
