יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶיךָ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ, שֶׁתַּעַזְרֵנִי וּתְזַכֵּנִי לְהִתְפַּלֵּל תְּפִלָּתִי לְפָנֶיךָ בְּכַוָּנָה גְּדוֹלָה, וְאֶזְכֶּה שֶׁלֹּא יֵצֵא שׁוּם דִּבּוּר שֶׁל הַתְּפִלָּה מִפִּי בְּלֹא כַוָּנָה, וְאֶשְׁמַע בְּאָזְנַי וּבְלִבִּי הֵיטֵב מַה שֶּׁאֲנִי מוֹצִיא מִפִּי, שֶׁאֶשְׁמַע מַה שֶּׁאֲנִי מְדַבֵּר, וַאֲכַוֵּן הֵיטֵב בְּכָל דִּבּוּר וְדִבּוּר שֶׁל הַתְּפִלָּה. וְתַעַזְרֵנִי שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה לְהִתְפַּלֵּל וּלְהִתְחַנֵּן תָּמִיד בִּמְסִירַת נֶפֶשׁ, וְתִשְׁמְרֵנִי וְתַצִּילֵנִי מִמַּחֲשָׁבוֹת זָרוֹת שֶׁבַּתְּפִלָּה, וְתִתֶּן לִי כֹּחַ וּגְבוּרָה לְהִתְגַּבֵּר עַל כָּל הַמַּחֲשָׁבוֹת זָרוֹת שֶׁבַּתְּפִלָּה, לְהַכְנִיעָם וּלְשַׁבְּרָם וּלְגָרְשָׁם וּלְבַטְּלָם, שֶׁלֹּא יִתְקָרְבוּ לִתְפִלָּתִי כְּלָל:
May it be Your will, Hashem our G‑d and G‑d of our fathers — that You help me and grant me merit to pray my prayer before You with great intent [kavanah gedolah]; and may I merit that no word of the prayer leave my mouth without intent; and may I hear clearly in my ears and in my heart what I am bringing forth from my mouth — that I hear what I am speaking; and may I concentrate well upon every single word of the prayer. And may You help me that I merit to always pray and beseech with self-sacrifice [mesiras nefesh] — and may You guard me and save me from alien thoughts during prayer [machshavos zaros sheb'tefillah]; and may You give me power and might to overpower all the alien thoughts during prayer: to subdue them and break them and drive them away and nullify them — that they not draw near to my prayer at all.
וְקוּמָה בְּעֶזְרָתִי, וְתֵן בְּלִבִּי בִּינָה וָדַעַת וְעֵצָה וּגְבוּרָה דִּקְדֻשָּׁה, שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה לְהִתְגַּבֵּר בְּיוֹתֵר בְּכָל מָקוֹם בַּתְּפִלָּה שֶׁבָּאִים שָׁם עָלַי מַחֲשָׁבוֹת זָרוֹת לְבַלְבֵּל חַס וְשָׁלוֹם, שֶׁאֶתְגַּבֵּר בְּאֵלּוּ הַמְּקוֹמוֹת דַּיְיקָא בְּהִתְגַּבְּרוּת גָּדוֹל וְעָצוּם מְאֹד, וּבִמְסִירַת נֶפֶשׁ בְּיוֹתֵר, וְאֶזְכֶּה לְהִתְגַּבֵּר אָז בְּכָל עֹז וְתַעֲצוּמוֹת, וְאֶמְסֹר נַפְשִׁי אָז יוֹתֵר וְיוֹתֵר, עַד שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה לְשַׁבְּרָם וּלְנַצְּחָם וּלְטַהֵר אֶת הַתְּפִלָּה מִכָּל מִינֵי מַחֲשָׁבוֹת זָרוֹת וּבִלְבּוּלִים. וְאֶזְכֶּה לְבָרֵר וּלְהַעֲלוֹת נִצּוֹצֵי הַקְּדֻשָּׁה הַמְּלֻבָּשִׁין בְּהַמַּחֲשָׁבוֹת זָרוֹת, וְתִתֶּן בִּי כֹחַ לְבָרְרָם וּלְתַקְּנָם וּלְהַעֲלוֹתָם לִמְקוֹר חוֹצְבָם לַהֲשִׁיבָם אֶל הַקְּדֻשָּׁה, וּתְרַחֵם עָלַי וְתוֹשִׁיעֵנִי תָמִיד שֶׁתִּהְיֶה תְפִלָּתִי זַכָּה וּנְקִיָּה בְּלִי שׁוּם פְּסֹלֶת וּבְלִי שׁוּם מַחֲשָׁבוֹת זָרוֹת, בְּאֹפֶן שֶׁתּוּכַל תְּפִלָּתִי לַעֲלוֹת לְנַחַת וּלְרָצוֹן לִפְנֵי כִסֵּא כְבוֹדְךָ, וְתַעֲלֶה וְתִנָּשֵׂא לִהְיוֹת כֶּתֶר לְרֹאשֶׁךָ, וְתִתְפָּאֵר וְתִתְעַנֵּג בִּתְפִלָּתֵנוּ, וְיִהְיוּ לְךָ שַׁעֲשׁוּעִים גְּדוֹלִים מִתְּפִלָּתֵינוּ וּתְחִנּוֹתֵנוּ תָמִיד, וְתִמָּלֵא רַחֲמִים עָלֵינוּ וְתָשִׁיב פָּנֶיךָ אֵלֵינוּ, וְתָבִיא לָנוּ אֶת מְשִׁיחַ צִדְקֵנוּ בִּמְהֵרָה בְּיָמֵינוּ, אָמֵן:
Arise to help me — and place in my heart understanding and knowledge and counsel and holy might; that I merit to overpower even more greatly at every place in the prayer where alien thoughts come upon me to confuse [me], G‑d forbid. That I overpower at precisely those very places with very great and mighty overpowering — and with even greater self-sacrifice; and may I merit to then overpower with all strength and might; and may I surrender myself then more and more — until I merit to break and defeat them and to purify the prayer from all kinds of alien thoughts and confusions. And may I merit to clarify and to elevate the holy sparks clothed within the alien thoughts [nitzutzei dikdushah ham'lubashim b'machshavos zaros] — and may You give me the power to clarify them and to repair them and to raise them up to their source from which they were hewn [cf. Isaiah 51:1] — to return them to holiness. And may You have mercy upon me and always save me — that my prayer be pure and clean without any dross and without any alien thoughts whatsoever; in such a way that my prayer can ascend for a pleasing savor and with acceptance before Your Throne of Glory. And may it ascend and be raised to become a crown upon Your head [cf. Zohar] — and may You take pride and delight in our prayer; and may You have very great pleasures from our prayer and our supplications always. And may You be filled with mercy upon us and turn Your face toward us — and may You bring us our righteous Mashiach speedily in our days. Amen.
