משיבת נפש - Meshivas Nefesh
בֵּאוּר הַרְבֵּה בְּעִנְיַן מַה שֶּׁאִי אֶפְשָׁר לִדְחֹק אֶת הַשָּׁעָה אֲפִלּוּ בְּעִנְיַן הַהִתְקָרְבוּת אֶל הַקְּדֻשָּׁה, רַק צְרִיכִין לְהַמְתִּין הַרְבֵּה וּלְצַפּוֹת לִישׁוּעַת הַשֵּׁם, עַד שֶׁיִּזְכֶּה לְפָרֵשׁ שִׂיחָתוֹ הֵיטֵב לִפְנֵי הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ בְּרַחֲמִים וְתַחֲנוּנִים, עַד שֶׁיִּזְכֶּה לְקַבֵּל דִּבּוּרִים חַמִּים כְּגַחֲלֵי אֵשׁ וְאַחַר כָּךְ צְרִיכִין לְהַמְתִּין עוֹד הַרְבֵּה, עַד שֶׁיִּתְמַלֵּא בַּקָּשָׁתוֹ וְעַד שֶׁיִּתְקָרֵב לְהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ בִּשְׁלֵמוּת. וְאַף עַל פִּי כֵן גַּם בְּתוֹךְ זְמַן הַהַמְתָּנָה וְהַשְּׁהִיָּה אָסוּר לִשְׁכּחַ וּלְהַסִּיחַ דַּעְתּוֹ מִן הַהִשְׁתּוֹקְקוּת וְהַכִּסּוּפִין וְהַגַּעְגּוּעִים אֵלָיו יִתְבָּרַךְ [עַיֵּן הִתְבּוֹדְדוּת אוֹת מז, יִרְאָה אוֹת קס"ד, פֶּסַח וּסְפִירָה קס"ה קס"ו]
A detailed explanation of the matter of how one cannot press the time at all — even in the matter of drawing close to holiness — but must wait greatly and hope for Hashem's salvation, until one merits to pour out one's speech fully before Hashem with mercies and supplications, until one merits to receive words burning like coals of fire. And afterward one must wait still more, until one's request is fulfilled and one draws close to Hashem in completeness. And even so, during the time of waiting and delay it is forbidden to forget or to distract one's mind from the yearning, longing, and desire for Him.
