צָרִיךְ לִהְיוֹת תָּמִיד בְּשִׂמְחָה וְלַעֲבד אֶת הַשֵּׁם בְּשִׂמְחָה. וְאִם לִפְעָמִים נוֹפֵל מִמַּדְרֵגָתוֹ צָרִיךְ לְחַזֵּק אֶת עַצְמוֹ בַּיָּמִים הַקּוֹדְמִים, שֶׁהָיָה מַזְרִיחַ לוֹ אֵיזֶה הֶאָרָה קְצָת וְיאחַז אֶת עַצְמוֹ עַתָּה בַּהִתְעוֹרְרוּת וְהַזְּרִיחָה שֶׁהָיָה לוֹ מֵאָז וּמִקֶּדֶם (שָׁם רכ"ב)

One must always be in joy and serve Hashem with joy. And if one sometimes falls from one's level, one should strengthen oneself through the previous days when some illumination shone for him, and hold onto the awakening and radiance that was his once upon a time. (ibid., Ois 222)
