After warmly greeting you with great love — I hereby inform you of our welfare — all of us. Blessed be G‑d, we have life and peace with us. May Hashem grant that we merit to exchange good tidings and to meet — all of us together — from a place of expansiveness, with truly joyful hearts. My dear brother — I received a greeting from you through our friend of the fellowship, R' Tzvi, may he live. And we greatly, greatly rejoiced to hear of your good welfare. For a long time we have not received a letter or word from you. And R' Tzvi asked me to write to you in his name — as he promised you. And blessed be G‑d — we had here a triple Purim [פורים משולש — "triple Purim": when Purim falls on Shabbos in Jerusalem — as it does in walled cities — and the various observances are distributed over three days (Thursday for gifts to the poor, Friday for the Megillah, Shabbos for the festive meal); this occurred in 5687 / 1927] — with great joy. And blessed be G‑d — on Sunday of this week we went to all the homes of the fellowship in joy and love and songs along the way. And blessed be G‑d — I was nearly drunk to the point of ad d'lo yada [עד דלא ידע — "until one does not know" — the Talmudic standard for Purim intoxication (Megillah 7b)], etc. And blessed be G‑d — a Haggadah with commentary compiled from Rabbainu's books is going to press — beautiful and very fine — and it will be a great sanctification of G‑d's Name. And I also saw a letter stating that in Poland [in the diaspora communities] they are printing the Likutay Etzos [לקוטי עצות — "Collected Counsels": R' Noson's topically arranged compendium of practical guidance from Rabbainu's teachings] of Rabbainu, of blessed memory, with a Hebrew-Yiddish commentary — which has been translated by R' Shimshon, may he live, Rabbainu's grandson. And now with R' Noton, may he live, here — there is already a first portion of hundreds of pages.
