Letter 60 ס'

To the honored selves of my beloved dear brothers — our Master R' Yaakov Zev, may he live — and our Master R' Yechiel, may he live.

My dear brothers — I come to you once more: if you want to show care for yourselves and for us — and for me — and that the matter of Rabbainu, of blessed memory, and the service of Hashem should be elevated in the Holy Land — I see no counsel and no beginning and no essential — except to do a good turn for R' Tzvi Yehudah Lipel, may he live. Then it will be good — both for a material foundation to sustain those who dwell there — and essentially in the spiritual: to strengthen each other. What shall I say to you? If you knew the urgency of the matter — you would have self-sacrifice for this. And now — I am declaring and doing what is incumbent upon me. And you — do what is upon you. Please, please: do this for him quickly, speedily — and write if you are doing this for him. For this is for me the essential from among all other matters here. Please inform him clearly whether you can do this for him — and if you are doing it — and what formal requests you have already submitted to the government. And great compassion is upon him — for so many years his life is literally no life — from the pain and the longing for Eretz Yisrael — beyond all measure and reckoning. And how much self-sacrifice he has made for this — unlike anyone. Therefore — know how to fulfill: "One who tends a fig tree shall eat its fruit" [Proverbs 27:18] — and you understand enough.
