An Invitation for Purim — With One Condition

Now, my dear brother — I will tell you the truth: I would counsel you, in order that you save your soul — the Divine spark and the point of Rabbainu the Holy one within you — since on Rosh Hashana you were not among the fellowship [i.e., not at the Rosh Hashana gathering of Breslov Chassidim]. And the essential thing is specifically with the fellowship who are engaged in Rabbainu's matter — who feel the ascents and descents of the Tzadik [a reference to a teaching in Likutay Moharan about the spiritual cycles experienced by the fellowship of a Tzadik; those who are truly close feel the Tzadik's spiritual ups and downs within themselves]. Study Likutay Moharan, Torah 66, etc. My counsel would be: perhaps, if you can come for Purim [פורים — the festival of Purim; in Breslov tradition, Purim is a great spiritual gathering, especially in Jerusalem, where the Breslov fellowship gathers to celebrate together] — among the fellowship. For in the times of Purim there was a journey to Rabbainu the Holy one. And previously all new beginnings were from Pesach — and now, etc. [an allusion to a historical shift in the Breslov calendar of spiritual gathering]. Purim is among the most exalted things — and what one manages to snatch there remains his. I know you: that when you come here — you want to get involved in everything, and you draw back from us and go to others who have already cooled from Rabbainu's light — and they cool you even further. Or you go to seek conversations [i.e., to gossip or discuss unrelated matters]. Therefore — if you are able to decide within your mind to lay aside everything, only to save yourself, and not to get involved in anything, and not to deal with anyone — only us four [an intimate circle of four Breslov companions in Jerusalem at this time] — then you could come for Purim. And the money obstacle is no obstacle [a recurring Breslov teaching: מניעות ממון אינן מניעות]. But the mental obstructions — every Friday they go and gather and travel — and you understand enough.

Now, my dear brother — I ask of you: please do me the favor and obtain for me Likutay Halachos, Orach Chaim, part two, section three [a specific volume/section of R' Noson's massive halachic-mystical work, which he does not have access to and urgently needs for study]. You will have a great mitzvah thereby — for I have nothing to study. R' Shlomo Veksler is studying that section himself and cannot lend it to me. So I ask you greatly, my dear brother — just as you have abundantly provided me with Rabbainu's books — so too continue henceforth to merit this, and you will have a share in the great mitzvah of enabling the many to merit, etc. And write me an immediate good reply.
