Siman One Hundred and Forty-Eight — Midas HaYirah B'Atzmahסימן קמח — מדת היראה בעצמה And this is what our Sages said: "what humility did as a crown for its head — humility did as a heel for its sandal [akev l'silusah]" — and so on. It follows that there is fear above fear. See Yerushalmi Shabbas, end of Halacha 3 — and in the commentary of Pnei Moshe there — and you will understand. And there is yet more to say: for in the writings of the Holy Ari — this teaching is brought in a different version: "what humility did — and so on — fear did as a crown for its head." See there — according to the secret. [And one must necessarily say: that the above chuchmah is the aspect of chuchmah tata'ah [lower wisdom] — which is the aspect of Malchus — the aspect of fear — as is known.] And according to this version it is elaborated: that the attribute of fear itself also has within it the aspect of fear — which is a crown for its head. And a heel for the sandal of humility. For there is fear above fear — as elaborated in the discourse.
