Petek Nanach Running Commentary on Likutey Moharan
Know that there exist 'fallen fears' — fears that have descended from their proper place in the spiritual realm and become distorted, corrupted, or misdirected. All the sufferings and judgments that a person experiences — every form of difficulty, pain, loss, and hardship — all of them stem from fallen fears. The fear descended into the particular matter that the person fears and from which he suffers. This is a profound teaching: the very thing a person fears is the thing that his fear has 'fallen into' — the fear descended from its proper elevated form (yirat Hashem) and attached itself to something particular and material. The remedy: recognize that your fear is a fallen form of fear of God. Elevate the fear back to its source — redirect it from the particular thing you fear toward the divine. When the fallen fear is raised, the suffering that flowed from it is sweetened.
