T177 PNC - I Have Forgiven According to Your Word — Initials Spell My Cup / Overflowing Forgiveness (1 seg)
Petek Nanach Running Commentary on Likutey Moharan
בַּמ' י"ד:כ; תה' כ"ג:ה.
Opening verse: 'And God said: I have forgiven according to your word' (Numbers 14:20 — God's response to Moses's prayer for Israel after the sin of the spies). The initial letters of 'salachti kidvarecha' (I have forgiven according to your word) spell the word 'kosi' (my cup). Furthermore, the word 'davar' (your word) is itself an acronym for 'Dishanta B'shemen Roshi' — 'You have anointed my head with oil' (Psalms 23:5). The cup (kosi) is the cup of blessing — the cup held at Kiddush and havdalah, which is filled to overflowing with divine blessing. The connection: Moses's word of prayer was so complete and full that God's forgiveness came overflowing like a full cup. And the anointing with oil (the davar that Moses spoke) = the full spiritual preparation that makes one a vessel for divine favor. The teaching: prayer that is spoken with the full quality of 'davar' — substantive, weighty, complete — draws down forgiveness that overflows like a full cup.
