קנאה
Sefer Hamidos - The Book of Traits
א. כְּשֶׁיִּתְבַּטֵּל הַקִּנְאָה, אֲזַי יִהְיֶה קִבּוּץ גָּלֻיּוֹת.
When jealousy will be annulled, the Ingathering of the Exiles will take place.
ב. עַל-יְדֵי קִנְאָה בָּא שְׂרֵפָה.
Through jealousy come fires (burning).
ג. עַל-יְדֵי קִנְאָה בָּא שְׁפִיכוּת-דָּמִים.
Through jealousy comes bloodshed.
ד. עַל-יְדֵי קִנְאָה בְּמָמוֹן חֲבֵרוֹ נַעֲשֲֶׂה שׁוֹטֶה.
Through coveting the money of one's fellow, one becomes a fool.
ה. עַל-יְדֵי בִּיאָתְךָ לַצַּדִּיק יִתְבַּטֵּל מִמְּךָ הַקִּנְאָה.
Through your coming to a Tzaddik, your jealousy will be annulled.
ו. עַל-יְדֵי קִנְאָה עַצְמוֹתָיו מַרְקִיבִין.
Through jealousy, one's bones rot.
ז. הַשּׁוּם מוֹצִיא קִנְאָה.
Garlic expels jealousy.
ח. דְּפָרַע קִנְאָה מַחֲרִיב בֵּיתוֹ.
One who takes revenge out of jealousy destroys his house.
ט. עַל-יְדֵי קִנְאָה בָּא תְּשִׁישׁוּת כּחַ.
Through jealousy comes a weakening of strength.
