And behold — in those days I saw that all the pledgers were still not paying even now. And everyone was pushing from day to day. For their time was pressed. And through this my mind became very weak. And also since I had traveled from Teplik to a nearby city and expected to receive some sum there for the printing — I accomplished nothing. And I traveled from there to Uman in very deflated spirit. For I saw that it was impossible to complete the matter through this journey. And I was dragging myself around in the winter for nothing. In particular with such obstacles as I then had. And it occurred to me to return home. And I came to Uman on Wednesday — 17 Shvat. Upon my arrival there — they informed me that Rabbi Naftali too had come to Uman from Breslov. And I did not wish to believe it — since he had recently been with me in Uman at Erev Rosh Chodesh Shvat as mentioned above. Afterward we came together with Rabbi Naftali. And behold — in truth Rabbi Naftali had come to Uman through the Providence of Hashem Blessed be He. For Hashem had arranged that a certain person had sent him to Uman in order to pray there for his son who was then ill. And then I saw the wonders and awesome deeds of Hashem. For in truth Rabbi Naftali had been sent to me in Uman from Heaven — so that the matter would be completed through both of us together. For I myself was compelled to return for several reasons — since I also had various affairs in the estate matter that required me to be home. And Hashem Blessed be He who knows secrets — arranged in His mercy — and brought about circumstances — that Rabbi Naftali should come to Uman on that very day I came there. And immediately it occurred to me to send him in my place. And I still greatly deliberated about this. And on Thursday — I was at his grave. And afterward my mind was settled to send him in my place. And he traveled with Rabbi Shimon. And I returned in his place home. And this was wondrous Providence from Hashem Blessed be He — for had it not been for this — I do not know if the printing of the book would have been completed then.
