And now it is clearly visible: therefore G-d turned the people about — and G-d did not lead them by the near road. For intentionally He detoured them on far paths and distanced them from Eretz Yisroel — so that they would not come immediately to Eretz Yisroel. So that their yearning should intensify more and more — through the greatness of the obstacles of the far road — and the force of the battles they saw. Through all of this their yearning should intensify more and more — of all those who truly wished to come to Eretz Yisroel. And whoever could not stand this test — would in truth not come to Eretz Yisroel. For such is the way of the Holy One Blessed be He — that He tests a person through the great obstacles He arranges before every holy matter. In particular before every holy matter upon which all of Jewishness depends — such as coming to Eretz Yisroel — or drawing close to the true Tzaddik. For then He arranges obstacles that seem like very great and difficult obstacles. And it is all for the sake of the yearning — so that his yearning should intensify more and more as mentioned. For through great and massive obstacles — one can understand how great is the level of the desired object. And then one's yearning and longing should intensify in proportion to the force of the obstacle. And then if one prevails with yearning and longing — certainly one will shatter all the obstacles and come to the true Tzaddik and to Eretz Yisroel. For the obstacles came only for the sake of the yearning as mentioned. And conversely — whoever cannot stand the test — will be pushed further away through this. For all that Hashem arranges and rolls with every single person in the world — from great to small — it is all for the sake of tests. For a person only comes into this lowly world for the sake of tests — as is known. And more than this — it is not the place to elaborate here.
