בְּיוֹם רְבִיעִי הַנַּ"ל שֶׁהוּא ה' אִיָּיר בָּא לְאוּמֶין וְנִתְאַכְסֵן בְּבֵית רַבִּי נַחְמָן נָתָן שֶׁנִּפְטַר בַּשָּׁנָה הֶעָבְרָה סָמוּךְ לְשָׁבוּעוֹת וְכָל מַה שֶּׁעָבַר בְּאוּמֶין אִי אֶפְשָׁר לְסַפֵּר וּמְעַט מְבאָר אֶצְלֵנוּ בְּסִפּוּרֵי הַשִּׂיחוֹת שֶׁלּוֹ (חַיֵּי מוֹהֲרַ"ן קפ"ה) וְעָמַד שָׁם בְּבֵית הַנַּ"ל עַד אַחַר שָׁבוּעוֹת
After Yom Kippur, Hashem Blessed be He arranged for me a wagon with men of our circle who had a great matter of business in Mohilov, and they agreed to take me with them. And I received leave from Rabbainu zichrono livracha and traveled with them to the holy community of Tultchin — for they needed to detour to Mohilov by way of Tultchin. And Hashem Blessed be He — in His mercies and awesome wonders — He who overturns circumstances and who thinks thoughts at all times for the rectification of the world in its entirety, and for the rectification of each and every soul and every spark individually — arranged through His wondrous ways with these men with whom I was traveling that they should return from Tultchin to their homes. For it became known to them there in Tultchin that they would be unable to obtain what they sought now in Mohilov — to collect money for their promissory notes [pudrad]. And they resolved to return home. (And in truth they were misled — for at that very time they actually could have collected the money, as became known to them afterward. And because they turned back they did not collect the money to this day.) And they came to me and told me that they were compelled to turn back — but they were troubled that I had no wagon to Mohilov. Therefore they searched and found a wagon going with a load of glass to Mohilov, and I could travel with it.
בְּשָׁבוּעוֹת נִתְקַבְּצוּ אֵלָיו כָּל אַנְשֵׁי-שְׁלוֹמֵנוּ כְּדַרְכֵּנוּ תָּמִיד אַךְ לא רָצָה לוֹמַר תּוֹרָה וַאֲנִי הִפְצַרְתִּי אוֹתוֹ קְצָת בְּשַׁבָּת שֶׁהוּא יוֹם שֵׁנִי דְּשָׁבוּעוֹת שֶׁיּאמַר תּוֹרָה, אַךְ הֵשִׁיב שֶׁבְּוַדַּאי לא יאמַר תּוֹרָה בְּשׁוּם אפֶן בְּמוֹצָאֵי שַׁבָּת אָמַר דִּבְרֵי צַחוּת אֵין אַתֶּם חוֹטְאִים כָּל כָּךְ כַּמְבאָר בְּסִפּוּרֵי הַשִּׂיחוֹת (חַיֵּי מוֹהֲרַ"ן ר"ב) בַּיּוֹם רִאשׁוֹן אִסְרוּ-חַג דְּשָׁבוּעוֹת נִכְנַס לְבֵית רַבִּי יוֹסֵף שְׁמוּאֵל שֶׁשָּׂכַר לוֹ הַדִּירָה אֶצְלוֹ, וַאֲנִי שָׂכַרְתִּי הַדִּירָה אֶצְלוֹ וְעַד אוֹתוֹ הַיּוֹם הָיִיתִי אֶצְלוֹ בְּאוּמֶין בְּאוֹתוֹ הַיּוֹם אִסְרוּ-חַג הַנִּזְכָּר לְעֵיל נָסַעְתִּי לְבֵיתִי, וְלא נִתְעַכַּבְתִּי הַרְבֵּה וְחָזַרְתִּי וּבָאתִי לְאוּמֶין כִּי רַבִּי נַפְתָּלִי שָׁלַח אֵלַי אִגֶּרֶת בִּפְקֻדָּתוֹ שֶׁאָבוֹא לְשָׁם וּבָאתִי בְּסָמוּךְ לְשָׁם וְנִתְעַכַּבְתִּי עַד אַחַר שַׁבַּת נַחֲמוּ וְקדֶם שַׁבַּת נַחֲמוּ יָצָא מִבֵּית רַבִּי יוֹסֵף-שְׁמוּאֵל הַנַּ"ל וְנִכְנַס לְבַיִת אַחֵר (הַיְנוּ לְבֵית הַלּוּקַטְשֶׁר) שֶׁשָּׁם נִסְתַּלֵּק בְּשָׁלוֹם וּבְכָל זֶה יֵשׁ הַרְבֵּה מַעֲשִׂיּוֹת לְסַפֵּר אַךְ בִּכְתָב אִי אֶפְשָׁר לְצַיֵּר כָּל מַה שֶּׁמִּתְנוֹצֵץ בְּדַעְתִּי נִפְלְאוֹת הַשֵּׁם בְּכָל עִנְיָן וְעִנְיָן וּבִתְחִלָּה בְּעֵת שֶׁיָּשַׁב עֲדַיִן בְּבֵית רַבִּי נַחְמָן- נָתָן בָּא אִישׁ מִבֵּית הַלּוּקַטְשֶׁר וּבִקֵּשׁ אוֹתוֹ הַרְבֵּה שֶׁיִּכְנס לְשָׁם לָדוּר וְלָא אִסְתַּיַּע מִלְּתָא לִכְנס תֵּכֶף לְשָׁם וְאָז אָמַר שֶׁגַּם זֶה יִהְיֶה מַעֲשֶׂה שֶׁיְּסַפְּרוּ אַחַר כָּךְ אֵיךְ שֶׁיָּשַׁב בְּבֵית הַנַּ"ל וּבָא פִּתְאם אִישׁ שֶׁלּא הִכִּיר אוֹתוֹ כְּלָל וְכוּ' וּבִקֵּשׁ אוֹתוֹ שֶׁיִּכְנס לְבֵיתוֹ וְכוּ':
I answered and said: "To return to Mohilov — it is not dignified for me to travel with such a load. For to travel to Rabbainu zichrono livracha — it is worthwhile to travel even in humiliation, and even to go on foot. But to return home — I do not wish to go with such a wagon." And I returned with them together to Breslov — to Rabbainu zichrono livracha. And I saw that it was the salvation of Hashem and His wondrous Providence over me. And immediately when we returned and traveled to Breslov — joy and weeping from joy arose within me. And I came to Rabbainu zichrono livracha in the evening. And his holy face was illuminated with a wondrous light. And I was satiated in the depth of my soul when I merited to return and see his illuminated face — whereas in my thinking I had expected not to see him again for a very long time. For from Mohilov I could not come to him constantly as before — as mentioned. And in particular I knew that Rabbainu zichrono livracha was prepared to travel to Lemberg immediately after Yom Tov. Therefore it was a very great and precious treasure to me — more precious than all wealth — to merit once more to come before the grandeur of his awesome holiness. And I also found there our companion Rabbi Naftali, who had remained there still — and several other companions. And it was a time of ratzon [Divine favor and closeness], and we ate with him together in joy and great closeness.
