וְהִנֵּה מַה שֶּׁעָבַר מֵאָז עַד הֵנָּה אֵין הַזְּמַן מַסְפִּיק לְבָאֵר חֵלֶק מֵאֶלֶף, אַךְ בְּקִצּוּר אֶרְשׁם קְצָת לְזִכָּרוֹן בִּשְׁנַת תקע"א נִסְתַּלֵּק בְּשָׁלוֹם כַּנַּ"ל וּבְאוֹתָהּ הַשָּׁנָה הִדְפַּסְתִּי אֶת הַסְּפָרִים בְּמָאהְלוֹב לִקּוּטֵי מוֹהֲרַ"ן תִּנְיָנָא וְהָאָלֶף-בֵּית וְהַקִּצּוּר כַּנַּ"ל וּבְאוֹתָהּ שָׁנָה יָצָאתִי מִקְּהִלַּת קדֶשׁ נֶעמִירוֹב וְקָבַעְתִּי דִּירָתִי פּה קְהִלַּת קדֶשׁ בְּרֶסְלַב, אֲשֶׁר כָּל זֶה הָיְתָה צְמִיחַת קֶרֶן יְשׁוּעָה לְהַשְׁאָרָתוֹ הַקְּדוֹשָׁה בְּזֶה הָעוֹלָם לְדוֹרוֹת וְכַמְבאָר מְעַט מִזֶּה לְמַעְלָה:
And on Thursday — which was the day before Erev Sukkos — I entered to him close to Mincha time. And my companion Rabbi Naftali and other men were standing before him. And his illness was considerably worse. And Rabbi Naftali told me that he had already gone to call the doctor — and I was very angry at him about this, for my mind was not at all willing in any manner that a doctor be called to him. And there is much to tell about this matter. But in the end they prevailed and voted against me and called the doctor to him — and it availed nothing — and it is close to the truth that this hastened his passing.
