בִּשְׁנַת תקע"ב עָשִׂינוּ שִׁדּוּךְ עִם בִּתּוֹ הַצַּדֶּקֶת מָרַת חַיָּה תִּחְיֶה עִם בֶּן הַוָּתִיק מוֹרֵנוּ יַעֲקב יוֹסֵף מִטְּשֶׁערִין כַּנַּ"ל וְגַם בָּזֶה יֵשׁ כַּמָּה וְכַמָּה לְסַפֵּר וְאֵין הַזְּמַן מַסְפִּיק וּבְאוֹתָהּ הַשָּׁנָה נָסַעְתִּי לִקְרִימִינְטְשָׁאק פַּעַם רִאשׁוֹנָה וְגַם בָּזֶה יֵשׁ מַעֲשֶׂה לְסַפֵּר:

And from that hour onward we did not stir from him. And that night — which was the night belonging to Friday, Erev Sukkos — I stayed the night with him. And that night he arranged a will before me: to give three hundred red coins [gold ducats] to his daughter Chaya — may she live — and the kesuba [marriage contract settlement] to his wife, and so on. And he said: and so on. And he said to me: "There is yet more to say." I answered him: "You need not say this — for you yourself will marry off your daughter." (For I did not wish to hear or take into my heart at all what he was speaking of regarding his passing.) He answered and said: "With Hashem Blessed be He all things are possible." (For such was his way in holiness — that he was never insistent about any matter with any person.) And he said: "These three years I have lived by miracle." (That is: the three years from the day this illness of the cough seized him until now — which span three years.)
