Chapter Sixty-Three: A Prayer for Easy Childbirth
Yisroel Saba
Have pity and compassion in Your great mercy on all who sit upon the birthing-stool from Your people the House of Israel. Save them from all pain and harm. Have mercy on their heavy and severe suffering, as is revealed before You, Master of all. Have pity on them and help them and save them in Your awesome mercy and Your great kindness — that all may merit to give birth easily, without any difficulty of labor at all. Full of mercy — have compassion on them, for You know their pain and suffering. Have compassion on them for Your own sake. Save them from all pain and harm and from all manner of evil eye, and from all manner of husks and forces of the other side that impede the birth and desire — G-d forbid — what they desire. Please Hashem — in Your great mercy, save them and guard them from all evil. May they all merit to give birth quickly and easily, without any difficulty of labor at all. Bring forth the child in peace without mishap. May all Your people Israel merit to raise their sons and daughters for long days and years in Your service and awe. May no woman lose the fruit of her womb. And may Your people Israel multiply like the sand of the sea which cannot be measured or counted for their multitude. Blessed is Hashem, G-d of Israel, from world to world. Amen and amen.
(From Likutay Tfilos)
(And increase in charity — for the essential depends on kindness. And recite Mizmor L'Todah [Psalm 100] many times, for the recitation of Mizmor L'Todah is a great segulah for a woman in difficult labor, that she may merit to give birth easily. And likewise Psalm 20 — "May Hashem answer you on a day of trouble" — is a segulah for easy childbirth. Amen.)
A Psalm of Thanksgiving — Shout out to Hashem, all the earth. Serve Hashem with joy, come before Him with glad song. Know that Hashem — He is G-d. He made us and we are His — His people and the flock of His pasture. Come to His gates with thanksgiving, His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His Name — for Hashem is good, His kindness is eternal, and His faithfulness is for generation after generation. [Psalm 100]
For the conductor — a Psalm of David. May Hashem answer you on a day of trouble — may the Name of the G-d of Jacob fortify you. May He send your help from the Sanctuary and support you from Zion. May He remember all your offerings and find your burnt-offerings pleasing. May He grant you according to your heart and fulfill all your counsel. We will sing joyously over your salvation and in the Name of our G-d we will raise the banner — may Hashem fulfill all your requests. Now I know that Hashem has saved His anointed one — He will answer him from His holy Heavens with the saving mighty acts of His right hand. These with chariots and these with horses — but we will mention the Name of Hashem our G-d. They bent down and fell, but we arose and were invigorated. Hashem save! May the King answer us on the day we call. [Psalm 20]
