Letter 171

Remember well, well — every single day — what has been done with us in this world. That we have come into this world at this time — in which there is to be revealed in it such a novelty of novelties — the like of which has never existed. And we — who are called by his name za.l. — are despised and wretched among Israel — a holy nation — in and of themselves so very, very much. Remember this — and rouse yourself and strengthen yourself and be a person of valor. For it is not an empty thing. And we are obligated to give thanks and to praise Hashem Yisburach — that He saved us from such error and confusion, etc. — from what one hears and sees — that everyone desires and longs for the holiness of Israel the Elder. And in the inwardness of their hearts — everyone, everyone cries bitterly over the immensity of their distance from the eternal purpose. But they are like birds caught in a snare. And the torrent of the many waters of all the desires and the character traits — especially the preoccupation with money — goes on and strengthens at every moment. And if we were to begin to say: "Had He only done… it would be sufficient for us — it would be sufficient for us" — our days would not suffice to give thanks to Hashem Yisburach for one of a thousand, thousands upon thousands and tens of thousands upon tens of thousands of times of the goodnesses, etc. that He performed with us in these our days. What shall we say — and He spoke and acted — through His kindness, through His goodness, through His mercies, through His wonders. "He has not dealt with us according to our sins" [Psalms 103:10]. Fortunate are we — how good is our portion, etc.

May Hashem be your stronghold — to leap over everything in peace — and everything will be transformed for good. From which pleasures arise before Him Yisburach — the like of which have not arisen since the days of the world! Incline your ear and your heart — and hear and understand well what is happening in the world in our days!

Even though in these our generations, etc. — but the healings that Hashem Yisburach has preceded in His kindness — they surpass everything. For there have never yet been healings of the soul like these — even for the most desperately sick ones of these sevenfold times — in the footsteps of Moshiach. And the word of our G-d will endure forever — and He will certainly complete it for good — also with you. And He will not abandon you and He will not forsake you. For the kindnesses of Hashem are not exhausted — and His mercies never cease.
