תּוֹרָה קסג - אַרְבָּעָה צְרִיכִין לְהוֹדוֹת

Through the desire for eating and drinking — one cannot bring forth any word before Hashem Yisborach (see above §62). All the four who must give thanks alludes to the matter of the soul's sufferings in the service of Hashem. Which is in the aspect of: ""they wandered in the wilderness"" [Psalms 107:4] — and the sick person — and one imprisoned in a dungeon — ""and they ascend to the heavens and descend to the depths"" which is the aspect of ""those who go down to the sea."" The soul endures torments and sufferings and great upheavals and strange troubles etc. And Hashem Yisborach saves it each time from all troubles. And for this we are obligated to give thanks always.
