תּוֹרָה קסד יֵשׁ שֶׁבָּא אֶל הַצַּדִּיק שֶׁהוּא רוֹפֵא חוֹלֵי הַנְּפָשׁוֹת, וְרוֹצֶה שֶׁיִּתֵּן לוֹ הַצַּדִּיק רְפוּאוֹת הַיְנוּ הַנְהָגוֹת וּדְרָכִים כְּפִי מַה שֶּׁהוּא יוֹדֵעַ, אֲבָל בֶּאֱמֶת הַצַּדִּיק יֵשׁ לוֹ רְפוּאוֹת יְקָרִים וַחֲשׁוּבִים וּדְרָכִים יְשָׁרִים אֲחֵרִים שֶׁצָּרִיךְ לְהַנְהִיגוֹ לִרְפוּאָתוֹ הָאֲמִתִּית. וְלִפְעָמִים אִי אֶפְשָׁר לוֹ לְהַצַּדִּיק לְגַלּוֹת לוֹ פְּנִימִיּוּת הַתּוֹרָה הַצָּרִיךְ לִרְפוּאָתוֹ, בִּכְדֵי שֶׁלֹּא יִהְיֶה נַעֲשֶׂה אֶצְלוֹ מִזֶּה סַם מָוֶת חַס וְשָׁלוֹם, עַל־כֵּן הַהֶכְרֵחַ לְהַלְבִּישׁ לוֹ פְּנִימִיּוּת הַתּוֹרָה בְּדִבְרֵי תּוֹרָה אֲחֵרִים, וְלִפְעָמִים גַּם זֶה אֵינוֹ יָכוֹל לְקַבֵּל, וּמֻכְרָח הַצַּדִּיק לְהַלְבִּישׁ הַתּוֹרָה בְּסִפּוּרֵי דְּבָרִים חִיצוֹנִים, לְמַעַן יוּכַל לְקַבֵּל הָרְפוּאָה הַהֲגוּנָה:
Sometimes one comes to the Tzadik — who is the healer of sick souls — and wishes the Tzadik to give him remedies — that is, guidance and paths according to what he knows. But in truth the Tzadik has precious remedies and other upright paths that he needs to guide him for his true healing. And sometimes it is impossible for the Tzadik to reveal to him the inner Torah he needs for his healing — lest it become for him a potion of death — G-d forbid. Therefore the necessity is to clothe for him the inner Torah in other Torah words. And sometimes he cannot receive even this — and the Tzadik is compelled to clothe the Torah in external stories — so that he can receive the proper healing.
