תּוֹרָה רטו יֵשׁ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה מִינֵי פִּדְיוֹנוֹת לְהַמְתִּיק הַדִּין מִכָּל הָעֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה בָּתֵּי דִּינִים, וּכְנֶגֶד כָּל בֵּית־דִּין יֵשׁ פִּדְיוֹן מְיֻחָד, וְיֵשׁ פִּדְיוֹן אֶחָד שֶׁכּוֹלֵל כָּל הָעֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה בָּתֵּי דִּינִים, וְלֹא נִמְצָא כִּי אִם חַד בְּדָרָא שֶׁיֵּדַע זֶה הַפִּדְיוֹן, וּפְעָמִים אֲפִלּוּ כְּשֶׁזֶּה הַצַּדִּיק עוֹשֶׂה פִּדְיוֹן אַף־עַל־פִּי־כֵן אֵינוֹ מוֹעִיל, זֶה מֵחֲמַת כִּי לָאו בְּכָל פַּעַם בָּא לָהֶם מִלְּמַטָּה פִּדְיוֹן כָּזֶה שֶׁיּוּכַל לְהַמְתִּיק כָּל הָעֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה בָּתֵּי דִּינִים בְּבַת אַחַת, וְעַל־כֵּן כְּשֶׁבָּא לָהֶם הַהַמְתָּקָה הַזֹּאת מִשְׁתַּמְּשִׁין עִמָּהּ לְצֹרֶךְ דָּבָר אַחֵר הַיְנוּ לַעֲשׂוֹת גֵּרִים, כִּי כָּל זְמַן שֶׁיֵּשׁ עֲבוֹדָה זָרָה בָּעוֹלָם חֲרוֹן אַף בָּעוֹלָם, וּכְשֶׁמַּמְתִּיקִים הַדִּין וְהַחֲרוֹן אַף נִמְתָּק הָעֲבוֹדָה־זָרָה וְנַעֲשִׂין גֵּרִים:
There are twenty-four types of redemption [pidyonos] — to sweeten the judgment from all the twenty-four courts [batay dinim]. And for each court there is a specific redemption. And there is one redemption that encompasses all twenty-four courts. And it is found only in one in a generation who knows this redemption. And sometimes even when this Tzadik performs the redemption — it still does not help. This is because not every time does a redemption such as this come to them from below — capable of sweetening all twenty-four courts simultaneously. And therefore when this sweetening comes to them — they use it for another purpose — namely to make converts. For as long as idol worship exists in the world — there is burning wrath in the world. And when the judgment and the wrath is sweetened — idol worship is nullified — and converts are made.
