Torah 84

It is stated in the holy Zohar: ""there is no day that does not have good — and there is no good but Torah."" That is — in every day there is hidden good within it — namely the secrets of the Torah that belong to that day. But when a person wishes to meditate and think on words of Torah — the secrets of Torah — and he is not worthy of this — then serpents and scorpions come and confuse his thought — lest he ascend to a place not his. And these are the alien thoughts that come to a person and confuse him. But through the person desiring and longing greatly to enter the hidden good — and cleaving himself to good attributes — then the good attributes are gates and openings through which one can see and attain through them the hidden good of each day. And then each and every day is very long and great for him — for he sees and attains the hidden good — namely the secrets of Torah belonging to each day. And this is the primary length of days. And one primarily merits this through the attribute of generosity [vatraniyus] — that a person is generous with his money. Which is the attribute of Avraham our Patriarch, peace be upon him. And through this all the serpents and scorpions fall and are nullified — namely the alien thoughts that confuse his mind. And the brain becomes pure and clear. And then one can enter each day into the hidden good that belongs to it as above.
