In Distress You Broadened for Me
בצר הרחבת לי (תהלים ד), הינו שגם אפלו בהצרה בעצמה, השם יתברך מרחיב לנו, כי אם יסתכל האדם על חסדי ה'. יראה, שאפלו בעת שהשם יתברך מצר לו, גם בהצרה בעצמה, השם יתברך מרחיב לו, ומגדיל חסדו עמו, וזה: "בצר הרחבת לי", הינו אפלו בתוך הצרה בעצמה, נתת לי הרחבה בתוכה, מלבד מה שאנו מצפים שהשם יתברך יושיענו בקרוב מכל הצרות, וייטיב עמנו מאד, אך אפלו גם בהצרה בעצמה מרחיב לנו:
195 - In Distress You Broadened for Me "In distress You broadened for me" (Psalms 4:2) – even within the distress itself, Hashem blessed be He provides expansion for us. If one reflects on Hashem's kindnesses, he sees that even when Hashem causes distress, within that very distress He broadens for him and magnifies His kindness with him. This is "in distress You broadened for me" – granting spaciousness even inside the distress. This is beyond our expectation that Hashem will soon save us from all distresses and bestow great good; even in the distress itself, He provides expansiveness for us.
