The essential sustenance and strengthening of every person in the service of Hashem is through combining the two paths mentioned in Ois 42–43 together. This is the aspect of: "Two are better than one, for if one falls, his fellow will raise him" [Ecclesiastes 4:9–10] — for they strengthen each person not to fall in any manner. For sometimes one strengthens oneself through the good points one still finds within oneself. But sometimes, G-d forbid, one falls even from this — until one cannot revive oneself with anything due to the great concealment and hiddenness and darkness and heaviness of heart that come upon him. And then one must revive oneself through the seeking and searching for Hashem, may He be blessed — in the aspect of "Where is the place of His glory?" from which path the Ba'al Davar cannot confuse or bring down through any confusion in the world. The path of searching for the good points is the aspect of Avraham — and the path of seeking "Where is the place of His glory?" is the aspect of Yitzchak — and Yaakov Avinu is the central bolt that includes both paths together. And about him it is said: "and the threefold cord will not quickly be severed" [Ecclesiastes 4:12]. For through this one merits to stand in one's holiness always. (ibid., Ois 19) If you believe that one can corrupt — believe that one can repair.
