T21 (Tinyana) PNC - Innovating Torah — Guarding by Poskim Before and After
Pettek Nanach Running Commentary on Likutey Moharan
עיוני: תהלים סא:ד; זוהר אחרי עג; ליקוטי הלכות פו"ר ב; מאמר זה הרחבה של ליקוטי מוהר"ן קמא רכ"ה ("החדושין").
Beginner: When Rebbe Nachman renews a true insight in Torah, hostile spiritual forces (the 'known watchers') lie in wait to ambush it. The protection is to flank the new idea with the legal ranks (poskim) — to study the practical halachic deciders both before drawing the chiddush down and after it has emerged. Then the chiddush descends safely 'between two columns of valor,' guarded front and rear by Torah-law itself, so no foreign element can approach. Intermediate: Anshei chayil are the maaseh-ish guards that flank a fresh chiddush; lacking them, gevuros she-bi-klipah feed on it. Limud poskim before and after — pesak as armor — converts the chiddush from raw daas into halachah-clothed daas, the only form in which it can pass the gauntlet. Likutey Halachos Bachor 4 expands this: every renewed light must enter halachah to be 'born.' Cf. Tinyana T8:7 (Chanukah hidden in end-letters of pasuk) — pesak is similarly the 'sealing letter.'
