When one enters the service of HaShem, one needs to linger and delay until one becomes famous in the world properly — gradually, in measure with one's avodah. Premature fame, accelerated by machloket, breaks the natural ripening of leadership.

Through the blemish of the will — meaning when one has not yet built the proper ratzon — fame arrives anyway through the disputes one has provoked, and this fame is not aligned with one's actual avodah. Therefore one becomes a public figure for reasons unconnected to the true ratzon, and the fame's content becomes the controversy itself rather than the holy work. The remedy is patience — delaying fame until the avodah ripens — rather than capitalizing on disputes.
