א. עַל-יְדֵי טְבִילַת מִקְוֶה מַזְכִּירִין זְכוּת אָבוֹת.

א. עַל-יְדֵי מֻפְלְגֵי וַחֲרִיפֵי הַדּוֹר מְאִירִין אֶת הַיִּרְאָה, וְעַל-יְדֵי הַיִּרְאָה מִתְנוֹצֵץ זְכוּת אָבוֹת, וְעַל-יְדֵי הִתְנוֹצְצוּת הָאָבוֹת נִתְעוֹרֵר תְּשׁוּבָה בָּעוֹלָם.

At the entrance to a man's house it is discernible if his ancestral merit has finished, or if his ancestral merit is effective.

ב. בְּפֶתַח בֵּיתוֹ שֶׁל אָדָם נִכָּר, אִם תַּמּוּ זְכוּת אֲבוֹתָיו אוֹ אִם חָלָה זְכוּת אֲבוֹתָיו.

Brilliant, ingenious people of the generation inspire awe; through that awe, ancestral merit sparkles, and through the sparkling of ancestral merit, repentance is aroused in the world.

ג. הַגּוֹמֵל חֲסָדִים, אֵין צָרִיךְ לִזְכוּת אָבוֹת.

At the entrance to a man's house it is discernible if his ancestral merit has finished, or if his ancestral merit is effective. One who does acts of kindness does not need ancestral merit.
