He would wander in his home: "How does one merit to be a Jew? How?" And all the words of Rabbainu of blessed memory — they are all lights and paths and advice on how to be a Jew! Rabbainu of blessed memory in his hisbodidus argued with H"Y: "Master of the World — how does one merit to be a Jew?" Now is the time of the Redemption! Messiah will come — and there will be such a true sage that all the heretics — all the apostates — will receive from him the holy Torah! "How to be a Jew?" There is already in the world Reb Shimon bar Yochai — and now we have "a flowing stream — source of wisdom!" He revealed such wisdom as has not yet been revealed in the world! Likutay Moharan and Likutay Halachos and Likutay Eytzos — we have everything prepared and ready! Oy vay — how can one eat and sleep? There is such wisdom! And all the wisdom is "how does one merit to be a Jew?" The Torah teaches us! Our holy Master said: "I and Noson laugh at the entire world!" There is already Likutay Moharan and Likutay Halachos and advice — "how to be a Jew!"

What is a Yeshivah? Scholars? Likutay Halachos! And heroism at midnight — for hisbodidus — outside his city! There one finds all the losses and deficiencies — in words sent from Heaven. I saw that these words of Likutay Halachos are such words that introduce into the person's heart the true purpose! I saw — I too wanted to rise — but I did not rise — I could not! But he rose — with such longing for H"Y! He left the room with the bed — and went to be in hisbodidus! This is always hard — in summer, in winter, always hard! There is rain and there is cold. By him all this was not relevant! He was such a hero — he overcame the body! "He revived it — how can one sleep?" This was the hisbodidus of Rabbainu — of the holy Ari — midnight — "Tikkun Chatzos!" "An overseer and a holy one who descends from Heaven... and now there is a flowing stream — source of wisdom!" Such that even Reb Shimon receives from him!

Whoever merited to touch — to hear — his Tikkun Chatzos — there was such a kind of hisbodidus and such longing! I — I would have given him the entire world to do midnight! I give him everything! Midnight — our holy Master! The Men of the Great Assembly instituted Shacharis, Minchah and Ma'ariv — three prayers! Rabbainu came and said: "Tikkun Chatzos!" Tikkun Chatzos from Rabbainu — the holy Ari — Tikkun Chatzos — from Sha'arei Zion! He went at midnight to the Kotel! To the Kotel! Although there was danger to go there against the goyim — the Kotel is not from the goyim, like the Temple Mount! I was there at that time and saw that he gives his life there! "Will a goy come and slaughter him?" He gives everything to H"Y! Ay! "We have sinned — we have betrayed!" We have robbed! When he said "we have robbed — we have spoken slander" — miracles that vital spirit remained in the body! He spoke before H"Y all his heart! It was literally as if he had already left the world — as if he had passed away! Every night he rose at midnight.

I too wanted to rise at midnight! I bought a clock to prepare — so that its sound would wake me! I entered the shop and I had no money at all! Nu — I want to buy a clock and I have not even a penny! I entered like a madman — I entered first to see the clock. But he felt and saw — how I — all my vitality was this clock that I wanted! So he did not think much — he said to me: "I give you the clock! Money? When you have money — give it to me!" No one heard — but he believed me! He understood that I am not robbing him of the clock. They thought they are Tannaim — that they are great — but the main thing is missing! Now is the time of the Redemption. So our holy Master came and revealed to us that we are distant — and we must seek ways to serve H"Y! For money is nothing! And desires are nothing! And everything is nothing! Only the main thing — to serve H"Y — to engage in Torah and prayer! This is called "life!" And without this — this is not life! At midnight — to seek ways how to serve H"Y! But without this? Worth nothing! Not Torah and not prayer. The main thing is the true Tzadik — who brought down vitality for us! "Prayer to G-d of my life!" King David said "Prayer to G-d of my life" — we say "Prayer to G-d of my life!" Our holy Master reveals to us that the main thing is to serve H"Y! And if not this — nothing! He sleeps — does nothing. One must remind oneself that this world is nothing! And to remember that the main thing is to serve H"Y — to study Torah and to fulfill! That is it! Now? We already have Likutay Moharan and Likutay Tefillos and Likutay Halachos! One must toil and labor and introduce this into our hearts! That this world? Nothing! The main thing — the World to Come! When one eats? Make a blessing! The Torah teaches us!

(Saba! How does one flee from honor?) For honor — there is no time! For desires — there is no time! Only to study Torah and to fulfill! For this the world was created! There is no time! For honor? There is no time! For desires? There is no time! Only the main thing! Only to study Torah and to fulfill! For this the world was created! For this we live! Not to sleep and not to think of anything — not money and not honor and nothing of the vanities of this world! Only to study Torah and to fulfill the Torah! For this the world was created — and for this we are Jews — receivers of the Torah! Not those who want honor and money and to be famous in the world! This is not called life! Reb Yisroel merited the true life — only through Likutay Tefillos and Likutay Moharan and Likutay Halachos! (How does one awaken?) To awaken? In the heart! To introduce into the heart! And to spend our days and our time — only Torah and prayer! Torah — to study — Torah and prayer — that is it! This is life! If not? It is not life at all!

We must hold a great gathering and see all kinds of advice — to have mercy on the world — on us and on our offspring and on the entire world! To see: "What is this? What is this? Were there ever such words in the world?" Now we must think and give all our strength to this! Yes — hard? One must every time renew oneself and be good friends! Yes! This is the main thing of all main things! Let us do this with everyone — every single one! All the strength he has! To come here — to illuminate in the world the light of Rabbainu! This will be — a new world! The compassion for each one of Israel — what? We already have Likutay Moharan and Sipuray Ma'asiyos and such lights! How can we sleep? I must sit and see you all... Let us form a fellowship and open a store for the entire world! (What merchandise will we sell?) If we have only one page "from Likutay Tefillos" — and so forth and so forth and so forth! This is such compassion that is impossible to describe! Where are we? Where are we? There is already in the world such Likutay Tefillos and Likutay Moharan and Likutay Halachos! How is it possible to sleep? And we too must — only always speak before the world of Rabbainu of blessed memory! To bring them to Rabbainu of blessed memory!

What is this? We need good friends! It is prepared! Everything the world needs — our holy Master has already prepared everything for the Redemption! He makes us new — an entirely new weapon! New! They try? They will be ashamed to raise their faces toward us! Nu — are we goyim? The Jews found a new weapon! (Saba? What weapon?) "Trust!" (Saba? We sing "Ashrainu that we merited the Petek from Rabbainu.") They hear, they hear... Let us take a car — we transport! Let us go through every city! "Who is 'Trust?' What is 'Trust?'..." Whoever heard the prayer and the hisbodidus of Reb Yisroel — the entire world becomes Tzadikim! Whoever heard the prayer and the hisbodidus of Reb Yisroel — the entire world becomes Tzadikim! Whoever heard his voice — became a Tzadik! And now Rabbainu already said: "Reb Shimon — he is 'an overseer and holy one who descends from Heaven' — and now? There is a flowing stream — source of wisdom! Through him Torah will not be forgotten from Israel!" No Tzadik ever said such words — "Messiah will give commentary on Likutay Moharan!" Nu? He is the only one in the entire world who said such words! (Reb Yisroel — Ebay HaNachal? Is this the commentary on Likutay Moharan?) Ebay HaNachal? This is the letters I wrote to President Shazar — who requested of me — with all kinds of requests — he asked me to write down for him what I received about the Rebbe — Reb Nachman! And this is — Ebay HaNachal! Everyone is astonished — all the great ones — everyone is nullified against such words! Who — who and who — ever said such words? "Messiah will give commentary on Likutay Moharan!"

But it is not right — Heaven forbid — to eat before prayer — and not... Forbidden! Only a sick person — but otherwise it is forbidden to eat even! Our holy Master did not drink even water before prayer — it is in Sichos HaRan! Do they learn from me? I am one — sick, old and sick! It is written by Rabbainu that he did not eat and did not drink from midnight — from midnight until! But what I saw — Reb Yisroel — no! He would not drink before prayer! And his prayer — whoever heard only his voice became a Tzadik! And I was with him together and I saw — weeping so greatly before H"Y — about everything — that he merit to fulfill the Torah! He lived every moment! He left upon himself all kinds of pains — all kinds of pains and illness! Yes — and he? So he served H"Y. (One who eats before prayer — this damages his prayer?) Yes! Certainly! Certainly! (This causes a blemish?) Certainly! We must only serve H"Y — and also in eating — serve in eating — only H"Y! The blessings and Grace after Meals! The people of our holy Master? When they ate — every blessing one hears greatly! And also all matters of eating? After prayer! Before prayer? No! There is much to say about this. And I myself all the days of my life I went every day to the mikveh at midnight — only now in old age when I am sick, then I fell! But I must strengthen myself even now. And to guard as the Torah — to guard the holy Torah! Not to eat and not to drink before prayer! (Reb Yisroel? And after the morning prayer — what is good to study?) He had hisbodidus before prayer! Hisbodidus — he taught his people the matter of hisbodidus! By the world this is a joke — "What is hisbodidus? What is serving H"Y?" But he did not listen to the entire world — he showed the path! I heard their prayer! He was already satiated and could not eat! He only said "Baruch She'amar" — only said some words of prayer — he was already satiated and could not drink or eat! We were created for Torah — to study Torah and to fulfill! Not for ourselves! And Reb Yisroel Karduner — he rose even in winter — even in rain — he went to be in hisbodidus — to speak with H"Y in the forest! I saw that Reb Yisroel even during the time he was sick — he rose at midnight and went into the forest and wept before H"Y and spoke with H"Y! The world? The entire world did not know of this! No.

(What is the time of hisbodidus? At midnight?) The time of midnight — it is six hours at night! Always — in winter, in summer! Six hours at night is the time of midnight! (The best time for prayer is at the time of midnight?) Yoa, yes! (So before the morning prayer?) No! At the time of midnight! One says Tikkun Chatzos and afterwards speaks with H"Y — there is hisbodidus! Perhaps at night he stumbled? He fell into some desire? Then he would tell before H"Y: "I did such and such — I ate — I erred — what is this? I did such and such!" He wept before H"Y that He forgive him — that He help him fulfill the Torah! Requests — "Sha'arei Zion!" "Sha'arei Zion!" There is midnight and there are prayers for every single day — Sunday, Monday, Tuesday... (Yes. Yes. I know the book.) Yes? Our holy Master had one son who was Messiah! He named him at his bris — his name was: "Shlomo Ephraim!" What is Shlomo? Shlomo — Messiah son of David! Ephraim — Messiah son of Yosef! You did not know of this? (Yes. I heard.) Yes? Our holy Master gave us prayer — there is prayer in the world! To speak? This is first of all a great principle — that we must speak with H"Y and tell Him everything! Perhaps one fell into some desire? Immediately to tell H"Y: "Master of the World — I fell! I did such and such! Forgive me — help me from now not to return to this!"

The world does not know — the entire world studies and does not know the true path — the straight path of Rabbainu of blessed memory! The people of Rabbainu were Tzadikim, yes — and fulfilled the Torah with self-sacrifice! Every matter of Torah — he gave himself over! At the time of midnight? Reb Yisroel? He would speak with H"Y and weep! Yes. And now he has become a Tzadik — a holy Tzadik! Such were the people of Rabbainu — all their lives was midnight! To rise at midnight and to tell H"Y what passes over him — all the falls — all the desires! He wept before H"Y that He help him overcome and conquer the evil inclination! Yes! Reb Yisroel had Tikkun Chatzos — and also prayers and Psalms! Yes. Whoever heard his prayer? Of Reb Yisroel? Then he became holy and pure — a holy and pure Tzadik! Specifically — through opposition I merited to know such words! Specifically through opposition! If there had been no opposition? I would not have known! And through opposition I came to know what Rabbainu is! What Breslov is! Now we are greater than all the generations that were! Our holy Master is the eldest of all the generations! We are such sick people that we need the very greatest physician — this is Rabbainu! Only he can help us! Certainly! I am not the person I was — I today? I am old and weak! I was a hero — the voices of my prayer? Everyone was nullified! All the opponents! Just to hear such voices! And all this? A drop from the ocean of what Rabbainu revealed! New! He made everything new — all the Torah! He is all wisdom — how to be a Jew? How to return in teshuvah? How to rectify everything? He teaches us such teachings as have not yet been revealed — such wisdoms as have not yet been revealed in the world! How to rectify us? Only he can!

(What you spoke tonight — yes — at night there were such words — afterwards I went and said the Likutay Tefillah — prayers! Of this Torah teaching, Saba? "The writings" — this is the book closest to my heart!) Yes? Every word — every word! (For I want to fulfill Rabbainu's words — and "the writings" is the fulfillment.) The fulfillment? (The writings? The fulfillment of Likutay Moharan.) The fulfillment? All the books — all the Talmud — all — it is the totality of all the Torah in its entirety! Every word! One can study and not know at all what it is! One must long and pray to H"Y that we merit to understand! (Kitzur Shulchan Aruch?) Good! (I also have Talmud.) Yes? Yes? This is Talmud? Talmud with Tosafos!

The night of watches — the main tikkun: not to sleep! And on Hoshana Rabbah — the main tikkun is to say Psalms and the tikkun of Hoshana Rabbah! But on Shavuos — it is not important if one cannot stay awake — let him not say it! The main thing is not to sleep! See to be awake on the night of Shavuos. The goyim have work — but we? Our holy Master said: "What does a Jew have to do in this world?" Only Torah and prayer! Everything — only Torah and prayer! Who will work? They — goyim — they will plow — and they will do everything!

I did not know that Reb Yisroel would go — I thought he would be an old man! But he went... He was an old man — he came with all the days he lived! And he was with H"Y always — he engaged in Torah and prayer and faith and such joy! And such light! A great segulah to engage in hisbodidus with H"Y! (This is a special thing?) Special! Hisbodidus is a great segulah — this is a great thing! This brings to a person great lights and great success in every matter! Hisbodidus — that one can speak before H"Y — everything he wants — everything he needs — one can speak before H"Y and tell Him everything that passes over him! This is what our holy Master revealed — the greatness of the matter of hisbodidus! To speak with H"Y as we speak. Yes — to speak with H"Y and tell Him everything and pray to Him! One can reach every good through fulfilling this matter! Things one cannot reach? To receive them? Through hisbodidus — everything is possible to reach and receive! All the levels and all the greatest rungs! One can rectify everything — only to be bound and attached to the words of Rabbainu and to fulfill his advice and to pray about this!

One sees that this changes the person completely! He renews — he rectifies everything! It is fitting that by us it should be fulfilled — that the world should see what Breslov is! One must buy several books to place in all the synagogues — in the Yeshivos — that they see what this is! [Dagan plays "Oy Reb Noson — oy Reb Nachman laughs at the entire world, oy Reb Noson..."] Good! Yes, yes, yes. But the main thing — as written in the Petek — Na Nach Nachma Nachman MayUman! (In Na Nach Nachma Nachman there are vowel points — but in "MayUman" it is hard to read.) What does it matter?... Dwelling in the Land — to dwell in the Land of Israel! Our land — the land of our fathers — this is the holy land — the Temple — Jerusalem!

We always bless H"Y: "Who chose us from all peoples and gave us His Torah — blessed are You!" One speaks with Him like with a friend! "Blessed are You H"Y — Giver of the Torah!" A telephone?! A telephone — we have a telephone at home — for free — without money! One always speaks with H"Y — with Heaven — and they hear there every word and every thought and everything! There is a telephone — Torah and commandments! One needs a telephone: "How to keep Shabbos? How to put on tefillin?" We have telephones for free — we speak with H"Y and Torah and commandments always! We have no work at all — only to study Torah and to fulfill the Torah! The telephone speaks by itself — one only speaks: "Blessed are You H"Y!" That is it! We are connected in Heaven to H"Y — to Torah and commandments! One always engages in speaking with H"Y in Torah and commandments! When one says Torah — every word — every utterance — every letter — this is such life and such joy that does not exist in the world! This is not known — the entire world does not know! Only we the Children of Israel — we the people of Israel — only we! "Blessed are You H"Y — Giver of the Torah!" The telephone for free — speaking with Heaven always — day and night!

My father was blind in both eyes — he wept before: "Have mercy on yourself and on me — do not be Breslov! Who will take you?" "I will be Breslov forever and ever!" I have no strength — I have no words that I sit here — this too is a miracle — a miracle from Heaven! Such a light has never yet been in the world — we have life and we have Torah and we have H"Y! This is the Redemption — and this is all our vitality and all the salvations! To hear Likutay Moharan — what this is! What salvation this is — what healing and what! This is all our rectification — this is everything! It has everything — fear of Heaven and faith and teshuvah and everything that one needs! Such a thing — has never yet been in the world! Now a wonder has been revealed to us — such a wondrous wonder that is all our vitality and our salvation! Everything — everything — only in this is all our vitality! Our holy Master has conquered the entire world — and he studies with you — with him — and with every single one! He teaches each one in his Torah — everything he needs — all the salvations! (Each one receives according to what he needs.) Yes! In every word — such a new thing that has never yet been in the world! Such a wonder that he can help us — he gives himself over to H"Y: "Take the sons and take everything — only let me merit to speak one word of Rabbainu!" This is our salvation!

He would wander in his home — "How does one merit to be a Jew?!" This is the main thing of our service! The goyim — they are our donkeys! They must plow and all the labor — so that we have bread to eat! Reb Shlomo Wexler from Germany — his father was a rabbi in Germany — he came to the Land of Israel! He saw Likutay Eytzos in a shop — and entered the shop! He saw Likutay Eytzos of Rabbainu — and said... So he came home and said to his father: "Father! I want to travel to the Land of Israel." "Fine — you want to travel to the Land of Israel? Take money and travel!" He came to the Land of Israel and was here a holy genius! He loved me and studied with me and spoke with me and gave his entire soul for me — to bring me close to Rabbainu! He had no livelihood — but his family sent him! He gave me the entire home — everything that was in the home! He had fruits and soup and we studied together and we danced together! And we were in joy that we have such a Rebbe! Our holy Master is found in the Land of Israel — and that the Redemption should come for each one of Israel as he is! He opens and places in him a new heart — he gives everything new! Likutay Tefillos! We see that we accomplish much through this and merit through him to such lights as have not yet been revealed in the world!

[Reb Yisroel plays and sings...]

His name was Mordichai! Mordichai — and he [Reb Yisroel Karduner] had a younger daughter and her name was Esther! Esther and Mordichai he had in his home! Holy angels — I have never seen such! Such modesty — such truth — that they were bound to H"Y — a child — a small girl! He had four daughters and one only son — the only son is Mordichai! And he had a daughter Esther. And all of them passed away — they died — and they suffered! They had nothing — they had nothing to eat! And he and the children were glad — with the Rebbe — that Rabbainu is in the world!

Messiah will come and rectify the entire world! He will rectify us and the entire world! He renews us — he rectifies us — he brings us close to Torah and to H"Y truly! Nu — such a thing has never yet been heard in the world! Such a wonder — such a wonder! The entire world is not... They think: "One who speaks with H"Y is unlearned — he does not know how to study!" One must every day renew oneself and say many prayers — then it will be — then we will be the people of Rabbainu! What is this faith that our holy Master reveals in the world? Such fear of Heaven — such truth — such self-sacrifice! One does not see and does not know at all of the light and the good that we have! Not for nothing were our people — the people of Rabbainu — holy people! He gives us every moment — a new heart and new holy words and a new form! We have not seen this in the entire world! Our holy Master rectified for us — to speak every day an hour — no less than an hour — with H"Y! Does such a thing exist in the world? Such holiness! Such truth! We have not seen — only our holy Master rectifies you and me and the entire world! He gives us a Breslov heart — he gives a new heart every day!

You remember? In Sefer HaMidos — an "esrog" is a healing for the eyes! (Pray for me for complete teshuvah.) We must always long greatly and pray to H"Y greatly — that we merit complete teshuvah! (In the hospital I had miracles.) Yes?! (All of Hadassah Hospital was on wheels — they know that Rabbainu is in the world.) Yes... Our vitality and our hope is from the fact that he has now been revealed in this darkness! Such a light was revealed as has never been! H"Y have mercy — and let us and all of Israel merit to draw close to Rabbainu! And may it be revealed speedily — this is the main Redemption! (All the salvations are Rabbainu!) Certainly! This is everything!

There is no despair in the world at all! One word — it conquers the entire world! He roared with great voices: "There is no despair in the world at all!" Do not despair! Givald — do not despair! "There is no despair in the world at all!" Already he has conquered the entire world! With one word! "Givald — zayt aych nisht meya'esh! Keyn yeyush iz gor nisht farhandyn! Ich bin do!" — "Givald — do not despair! There is absolutely no despair at all! I am here!" Why is there no despair in the world at all? Because I am found in the world! Is there one who cries out — "There is no despair in the world at all?" "Givald — do not despair! There is absolutely no despair at all!" And why did no Tzadik cry out such voices? Because he took this from H"Y Himself: "Do not despair — there is no despair in the world at all!" H"Y says: "There is no despair in the world at all!" Yes — Na Nach! (My father does not know Na Nach — if I say it for him is this good?) Yes! Only to mention the name of Rabbainu of blessed memory — Na Nach Nachma Nachman MayUman — this is a sweetening! And this is it — this heals and strengthens and renews the entire world — only with one word! Now — the time of the days of Messiah — our holy Master will be revealed — he who cried out with such voices: "Givald! Givald! Do not despair! There is no despair in the world at all!" He has already conquered the entire world with one word!

One sees that when the Beggars came — the Beggars gave gifts! They are Beggars and have nothing — the Beggars gave gifts to the groom and bride! To the very matter of the wedding — "There is no despair in the world at all!" Do not despair — there is no despair in the world at all! Then the children will already have all good! The Beggars gave gifts to the groom and bride and said: "If the Blind Beggar were here he would have rejoiced greatly!" The children and the groom and bride said: "If the Blind Beggar were here — the blind Beggar is also blind — if the Blind Beggar were here he would have rejoiced greatly!"
