And I stood before him together with Rabbi Naftali and Rabbi Shimon. And he sat on his chair and gazed at us — and said nothing. Afterward I said to Rabbi Naftali quietly: "Go and lie down to sleep — for you have not yet slept at all." And he was unwilling to go from him — for his soul was bitter to him from those words he had heard about his passing. And he wished to stand before him still out of sheer love and longing — to benefit from the radiance of the purity of his holy illuminated face. Afterward — after some brief while — sleep overcame him and he went to sleep. And likewise Rabbi Shimon lay down on the floor to sleep in that very room where Rabbainu zichrono livracha was sitting. And likewise the attendant and his wife — all of them were sleeping. And there remained before him to watch over him and to serve him — no one but me alone.
