וְהִנֵּה דַּרְכֵּנוּ תָּמִיד בִּבְרֶסְלַב לְהִתְפַּלֵּל בְּיוֹם שְׁבִיעִי שֶׁל פֶּסַח בַּבּקֶר הַשְׁכֵּם מְאד, מֵעֲלוֹת הַשַּׁחַר מַמָּשׁ כַּאֲשֶׁר נוֹהֲגִין כָּל זֶרַע הַבַּעַל שֵׁם טוֹב זִכְרוֹנוֹ לִבְרָכָה וְהַנִּלְוִים עֲלֵיהֶם אֲבָל בְּאָדֶעס אָמַרְתִּי שֶׁבְּוַדַּאי לא יִהְיֶה לָנוּ מִנְיָן לְהִתְפַּלֵּל בַּבּקֶר הַשְׁכֵּם כָּל כָּךְ, אֲבָל הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ עֲזָרָנוּ לְחַזֵּק אֶת לְבָבֵנוּ לְשִׂמְחָה, עַד שֶׁזָּכִינוּ שֶׁנִּתְקַבְּצוּ אֵלֵינוּ לְמִנְיַן עֲשָׂרָה וְהִתְפַּלַּלְנוּ בַּבּקֶר הַשְׁכֵּם כְּמוֹ בְּבֵיתֵנוּ וּבִתְחִלָּה טָבַלְנוּ בְּמִקְוֶה כְּדַרְכֵּנוּ תָּמִיד, וְאַחַר כָּךְ הִתְפַּלַּלְנוּ כָּל הַתְּפִלָּה בְּמִנְיָן, וְאָמַרְנוּ כָּל הַפִּיּוּטִים וְקָרִינוּ בַּתּוֹרָה גַּם שָׁמַעְנוּ בִּרְכַּת כּהֲנִים מֵר"י שֶׁבָּא עִם רַבִּי יְהוּדָא אֱלִיעֶזֶר וְאַחַר כָּךְ הִמְתַּנְתִּי עַד שֶׁגָּמְרוּ בְּבֵית הַכְּנֶסֶת הַתְּפִלָּה, וְאַחַר כָּךְ מַלְתִּי הַתִּינוֹק כַּדָּת, תְּהִלָּה לָאֵל וְעַל יְדֵי כָּל זֶה נִתְעוֹרְרוּ לְבָבֵינוּ לְשִׂמְחָה גְּדוֹלָה מְאד וְכֵן הָיָה תְּהִלָּה לָאֵל שֶׁבְּיוֹם שְׁבִיעִי שֶׁל פֶּסַח הָיִינוּ בְּשִׂמְחָה גְּדוֹלָה מְאד בְּרִקּוּדִין וּמְחוֹלוֹת הַרְבֵּה כָּל הַיּוֹם כֻּלּוֹ עַד הָעֶרֶב, בִּתְחִלָּה בְּבֵית ר"ש שֶׁאָכַלְתִּי בְּבֵית ר"ש אַחַר כָּךְ נִכְנַסְנוּ לְבֵית הַבְּרִית מִילָה וְגדֶל הַשִּׂמְחָה שֶׁהָיָה לָנוּ שָׁם אֵין לְשַׁעֵר עַד שֶׁעוֹרַרְנוּ כָּל הָעוֹלָם שֶׁהָיָה שָׁם לְשִׂמְחַת יוֹם טוֹב וְשִׂמְחַת בְּרִית מִילָה גַּם אֲבִי הַתִּינוֹק שֶׁהָיָה בְּטֶבַע בַּעַל מָרָה שְׁחוֹרָה, וּכְשֶׁנִּכְנַסְנוּ לְבֵיתוֹ הָיָה רָחוֹק מִשִּׂמְחָה מְאד מְאד, אֲבָל אַחַר כָּךְ מִגּדֶל הַשִּׂמְחָה עוֹרַרְנוּ אוֹתוֹ לְשִׂמְחָה גְּדוֹלָה, עַד שֶׁהוּא וּשְׁאָר אֲנָשִׁים הָרְחוֹקִים מִשִּׂמְחָה כֻּלָּם רָקְדוּ לִכְבוֹד יוֹם טוֹב בְּשִׂמְחָה הַרְבֵּה וּכְבָר מְבאָר אֶצְלֵנוּ גּדֶל הַמִּצְוָה, כְּשֶׁמְּשַׂמְּחִים בְּשִׂמְחָה אֶת מִי שֶׁהוּא בְּעַצְבוּת וּמָרָה שְׁחוֹרָה, וּבִפְרָט בְּיוֹם-טוֹב בִּסְעֻדַּת-מִצְוָה כָּזאת אַחַר-כָּךְ נִכְנַסְתִּי לְבֵית רַבִּי צְבִי, וְגַם שָׁם הָיִינוּ בְּשִׂמְחָה גְּדוֹלָה וְרָקַדְנוּ הַרְבֵּה וּתְהִלָּה לָאֵל עָבַר כָּל יוֹם שִׁשִּׁי שֶׁהוּא שְׁבִיעִי שֶׁל פֶּסַח בְּשִׂמְחָה רַבָּה בְּעֶזְרַת הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ, וְכֵן בְּיוֹם הַשַּׁבָּת שֶׁלְּאַחֲרָיו שֶׁהוּא אַחֲרוֹן שֶׁל פֶּסַח בִּתְחִלָּה בִּשְׁעַת סְעֻדַּת שַׁחֲרִית הָיִנוּ רְחוֹקִים מְאד מִשִּׂמְחָה וְרִקּוּדִין מִגּדֶל הַיְגִיעָה שֶׁל אֶתְמוֹל אֲבָל אַף עַל פִּי כֵן בְּדַעְתִּי הָיִיתִי נִכְסָף מְאד לְדַבֵּר מִתּוֹרָתוֹ שֶׁל רַבֵּנוּ זִכְרוֹנוֹ לִבְרָכָה וְלִהְיוֹת בְּשִׂמְחָה, עַד שֶׁעֲזָרַנִי הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ שֶׁהָיִיתִי מֵשִׂיחַ וּמְסַפֵּר עִם הָאֲנָשִׁים שֶׁבָּאוּ אֶצְלֵנוּ מִכָּל מַה שֶּׁנִּזְדַּמֵּן לְתוֹךְ פִּינוּ, עַד שֶׁמִּתּוֹךְ הַדְּבָרִים נִכְנַסְנוּ לְתוֹךְ הַתּוֹרָה עַל פָּסוּק (שְׁמוּאֵל-א ט"ו) וַיְשַׁסֵּף וְכוּ' שֶׁהוּא רָאשֵׁי-תֵבוֹת שָׁבוּעוֹת סֻכּוֹת פֶּסַח, וּמֵעִנְיַן אַבְרָהָם תִּקֵּן שַׁחֲרִית וְכוּ', וּמֵעִנְיַן הַשָּׂגַת אֱלהוּת שֶׁאִי אֶפְשָׁר לְהַשִּׂיג כִּי-אִם עַל יְדֵי צִמְצוּמִים וְכוּ' כַּמְבאָר כָּל זֶה בְּסִימָן למ"ד וְהֶחֱיֵיתִי מְאד מְאד אֶת כָּל הַשּׁוֹמְעִים אַחַר כָּךְ זָכִינוּ לְהִתְעוֹרֵר עַל יְדֵי זֶה לְשִׂמְחָה גְּדוֹלָה, עַד שֶׁזָּכִינוּ שֶׁהִגִּיעַ הַשִּׂמְחָה לְרַגְלֵינוּ, וְחָזַרְנוּ וְרָקַדְנוּ הַרְבֵּה מְאד עַד שֶׁעָבַר גַּם כָּל יוֹם שַׁבַּת קדֶשׁ בְּשִׂמְחָה גְּדוֹלָה וּגְדוֹלָה הָיְתָה הַשִּׂמְחָה שֶׁל הַיָּמִים הָאַחֲרוֹנִים מֵהַשִּׂמְחָה שֶׁל יָמִים הָרִאשׁוֹנִים שֶׁל פֶּסַח בָּרוּךְ הַשֵּׁם, אֲשֶׁר עֲזָרַנִי עַד כּה וְחִזֵּק אֶת לְבָבֵנוּ בְּשִׂמְחָה, כִּי (נֶחֶמְיָה ח) חֶדְוַת ה' הִיא מָעֻזֵּנוּ וְכוּ':
And I was content not to wake from my sleep to eat the evening meal. But I rose before the evening meal. And I did not wish to eat — only a very little. And afterward I recalled that 15 Shvat had passed without proper joy. And I began to gladden myself. And Rabbi Yeshaya from Tchirkas was there — one of our anshei sh'lomaynu. And I grabbed him into the joy. And I danced with him against his will. And at first he was not at all willing. But I greatly compelled him. And he was unable to change my will. And through this — true joy was afterward drawn over him. As is explained by us — that at first one must force oneself to joy. And afterward true joy comes — as I heard from his holy mouth explicitly. [Likutay Tinyanna §23] And these few dances and this joy on that night were very precious to me — more than gold and pearls. For I had despaired of rejoicing at that time — since I had already fallen asleep. And Hashem was with me in my help to come to joy then. Which was a great thing for me. For every time I merit to be in joy — even on a weekday — it is very precious to me and a great mitzvah. For Rabbainu zichrono livracha warned me very very much to always only be happy — and to force ourselves with all our strength to always be in joy. And the main thing is to gladden oneself through matters of foolishness precisely — as is explained by us many times. [Ibid. §24] And through this joy mentioned above — through it I later merited to rejoice also on holy Shabbas. For through it I taught Rabbi Yeshaya mentioned above to be in joy and dancing on holy Shabbas. And in particular regarding the journey to Eretz Yisroel — the joy was the main great thing for me. And every single joy — great and small — a little and a lot — that I had on the road — all of it was Heavenly assistance — in order to grant us to come there. And without it — it would have been impossible for me to come there. Afterward I stayed to spend Shabbas Parshas Yisro there in Tcheirin. And Rabbi Yudil also stayed in Tcheirin. And on Shabbas night he did not eat with me at Rabbi Yaakov Yosef's. Rather he ate at his own inn — which was always at Rabbi Ber's. And on Shabbas night we rejoiced with Hashem's help and danced in honor of the joy of holy Shabbas. And on the day — Rabbi Yudl also ate with me. And blessed be Hashem — everything was as it should be — joy and peace. And also on Motza'ei Shabbas we danced with Hashem's help.
