תּוֹרָה פח - הַמְכַסֶּה שָׁמַיִם בְּעָבִים א. מִדַּת הַיִּרְאָה וְהָאַהֲבָה שֶׁל הַצַּדִּיק, הֵם הַיָּדַיִם שֶׁלּוֹ לְקַבֵּל בָּהֶם כָּל הַהַשְׁפָּעוֹת וְכָל הַבְּרָכוֹת וּלְהַמְשִׁיכָם לְיִשְׂרָאֵל, וְהוּא מְכַסֶּה וּמַסְתִּיר הָאַהֲבָה וְהַיִּרְאָה, שֶׁלּוֹ כְּדֵי שֶׁלֹּא יְקַטְרְגוּ הַמְקַטְרְגִים עָלָיו וְיִגְזְלוּ מִמֶּנּוּ הַהַשְׁפָּעוֹת: ב. אַךְ כְּשֶׁהַצַּדִּיק הוּא מְפֻרְסָם גָּדוֹל, הַמְקַטְרְגִים יוֹדְעִים מִמֶּנּוּ וּמִתְאַמְּצִים מְאֹד לִבְלִי לְהַנִּיחַ לוֹ לְהוֹרִיד הַשֶּׁפַע לְיִשְׂרָאֵל, וְעַל־כֵּן הַקָּדוֹשׁ־בָּרוּךְ־הוּא נוֹתֵן בְּלֵב צַדִּיק אַחֵר לַעֲשׂוֹת מַחֲלֹקֶת עִמּוֹ כְּדֵי לְכַסּוֹתוֹ, וְיוּכַל לְהוֹרִיד הַשֶּׁפַע:
The attribute of fear and love of the Tzadik — these are his hands — through which he receives all the influences and all the blessings and draws them to Israel. And he covers and conceals his love and fear — so that the accusers do not accuse him and rob from him the influences. But when the Tzadik is very famous — the accusers know of him and make great effort not to allow him to bring down the abundance to Israel. And therefore the Holy One, blessed be He, places it in the heart of another Tzadik to make conflict with him — in order to cover him. And then he can bring down the abundance.
