Sefer Hamidos - The Book of Traits
ד. גַּם יִשְׁמֹר אֶת עַצְמוֹ מִמַּאַכְלֵי אִסּוּר, וְיִשְׁמֹר אֶת פִּיו מִדִּבּוּר אָסוּר.
One who expends money to acquire a rabbi from whom to learn, through this he will find grace. When you defer, you will find grace.
א. עַל-יְדֵי צְדָקָה זוֹכֶה לְחֵן. ה. מִי שֶׁמְּפַזֵּר מְעוֹתָיו בִּשְׁבִיל לִקְנוֹת לְעַצְמוֹ רַב לִלְמֹד מִמֶּנּוּ, עַל-יְדֵי-זֶה יִמְצָא חֵן.
Through charity one merits to grace. Through humility one merits to grace. Through [giving] rebuke, you will find grace. Olive oil is a segulah (auspicious) for grace. A segulah for finding grace is to write on parchment, "Silver and gold kindness and truth champion." By the awe [you have] for a Torah scholar, you merit to grace.
ו. כְּשֶׁתַּעֲבִיר עַל מִדּוֹתֶיךָ, תִּמְצָא חֵן.
Words that are spoken (lit. come out) calmly are accepted by people.
ז. עַל-יְדֵי תּוֹכָחָה תִּשָּׂא חֵן. ט. סְגֻלָּה לְחֵן תִּכְתֹּב עַל קְלַף, כֶּסֶף וְזָהָב חֶסֶד וֶאֱמֶת אַלּוּף.

ח. שֶׁמֶן-זַיִת מְסֻגָּל לְחֵן. י. עַל-יְדֵי הַיִּרְאָה מִתַּלְמִיד-חָכָם תִּזְכֶּה לְחֵן.

ב. עַל-יְדֵי שִׁפְלוּת זוֹכֶה לְחֵן. יא. דִּבּוּרִים הַיּוֹצְאִים בְּנִיחוּתָא נִתְקַבְּלִים אֵצֶל בְּנֵי-אָדָם.

יג. עֵסֶק הַתּוֹרָה בַּדֶּרֶךְ נוֹתֶנֶת חֵן. ג. לְחֵן יַכְנִיס אוֹרְחִים. א. כְּשֶׁאָדָם בָּא לְעִיר לָדוּר, יִשְׁלַח בָּשָׂר לַעֲנִיֵּי הָעִיר, וְעַל-יְדֵי-זֶה יִשָּׂא חֵן בְּעֵינֵי שָׂרֵי הָעִיר.
