And behold — on Wednesday toward the end of day — a broker who was staying with me in Rabbi Tzvi's house informed me that there was a ship that would leave before Shabbas for Istanbul. And I greatly wished to go with them — and to take Rabbi Mendil who was with me. But the ticket had not yet been completed. And I immediately sent to the ticket broker. And he replied that tomorrow it would be completed — as he had promised me at the time he received the money from my hand. But Hashem Blessed be He delayed me. And the ticket was not completed until the following Tuesday — the week preceding Pesach. And then I despaired further of leaving before Pesach. For I saw that it was from Hashem that I should remain in Odessa for the holy festival of Pesach. And this path was right before me for several reasons as mentioned.
